Swinging into 2024: A Golf Extravaganza Unveiled at Prestige Golfshire Club

The PGA Tour then moved back to the mainland after two weeks in Hawaii to La Quinta, California, for the American Express, which was won by amateur Nick Dunlap, the reigning US Amateur Champion. Dunlap turned professional the following week after being unable to collect the $1.25 million USD prize purse because he was playing as an amateur.

The AT&T Pro-Am followed two weeks later at the infamous Pebble Beach layout and was won by the reigning US Open Champion, Wyndham Clarke, after a rain-shortened event handed him the win after just 54 holes. Last week’s WM Phoenix Open, the biggest attended golf tournament in the world, was marred by some unruly fan behavior after a reported 250,000 fans were allowed on-site on the Saturday of the event. The eventual tournament winner, Nick Taylor of Canada, said that he was not put off by the antics of some of the fans at this mammoth golf tournament and looked forward to returning in 2025.

On the home front, Pranavi Urs from Mysore played in Kenya in her opening LET event for 2024. This golf tournament was played at the Vipingo Ridge just outside of Kikambala where Pranavi finished a very creditable 23rd, although she was sitting in 8th place after 3 rounds. The last day saw play suspended for a while as giraffes blocked the fairways on several holes on their way through the golf course. This golf tournament may be remembered more for the spectacular wildlife on the course rather than the amazing golf the ladies were playing.

In Bangalore, the Prestige Golfshire Club has started the year off well with the Callaway Sweepstakes Golf Tournament, which is held over three months with the winner each month receiving a custom fitting with Callaway. General Manager and PGA Professional Declan McCollam said that 2024 marks the 10th anniversary year of the Prestige Masters Series golf tournament and, along with this prestigious event, we will introduce two new events to the calendar in 2024.
