The Golfshire Times - October 2018

Whether you are a Tiger fan or not, the golfing world witnessed the comeback of all comebacks at the year ending Tour Championships. The Tiger was back in his trademark red and black combination to blow the field away and lift his eightieth PGA tour title with an outstanding display of golf. He silenced his critics who over the last few years have suggested that he should retire from the sport. Playing with Rory McIlroy in the final group, Tiger shot a one over par round to finish the tournament at eleven under and win by two strokes. After this performance a major championship may not be too far away!

September was another busy month at Golfshire as we hosted the 5th Leg of The Prestige Masters, The Duke Of Edinburgh Cup and the SKY Team Golf Tournaments. As we move into the last three months of the year, the focus will be on the Master’s Grand Finale as well as crowning of our Playbook Club Champions.

We are now hosting a Free Snag Golf program on Saturdays and Sundays for families and friends with two sessions at 02:30pm and 03:00pm. This is located between the hitting bays and the putting green, all ages welcome.

With the Monsoon Season almost over, Chef Manish has been testing some new items for the Falcon Green Restaurant. Also check out some of the new daily and weekly specials we have to offer.

You may have noticed some new equipment around the course over the last week of September. To preserve and continue to maintain the high playing standards of the golf course, the agronomy team is delighted with their new fleet of Toro equipment.

The benefits of these new machines are already noticeable on the course with improved definition, better quality of cut and tighter lies. The cost to maintain equipment increases as it ages, and parts need to be replaced as they reach the end of their useful life. Besides, every time a piece of equipment needs service, it means costly downtime. The Club ownership has made a big investment for the future of the course with the new Toro fleet.

Looking ahead to October, we will be doing approach renovations the first week of the month. We will also take the opportunity to reshape certain approaches. Weeding around the course will also be ongoing as well as a general tidying of all native areas. We hope you continue to enjoy the course.

Get Fit for Golf

Doing pulls ups regularly will strengthen the large muscles of the back such as the Latissmus Dorsi. This will translate into a greater amount of force when striking the golf ball. Strong and flexible muscles in the back will give you a greater chance of staying on plane throughout your downswing.
